Newcastle United are ready to battle it out with Manchester United and West Ham United for the services of Jonathan Tah.
According to a report by The Sun, Newcastle United are keen on having Jonathan Tah in their ranks. The Magpies are looking to reinforce their defence in the upcoming winter transfer window, and the 27-year-old Bayer Leverkusen defender is a priority target for them. Die Werkself want £20 million for the centre-back, also a target for Manchester United and West Ham United.
Tah joined Bayer Leverkusen back in 2015 from Hamburg for a fee of around £6.5 million. He has gone from strength to strength since and currently, he is one of the most important players of their first team.
The 27-year-old has featured in over 300 matches for Bayer Leverkusen, and he has even contributed towards 23 goals. In the ongoing season, he has featured in 16 matches and has also bagged four goals.
Tah’s impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, and there is a lot of interest in his services. While Leverkusen would love to keep him in their ranks for a few more years, his contract runs out in the summer of 2025. And, with just over 18 months left on his deal, the German club might look to cash in on him if the right offer arrives.
Newcastle United are one of the clubs keen on signing him in January. The Magpies are looking for defensive reinforcement after losing Sven Botman and Dan Burn to injury. The duo’s absence is a huge blow for Eddie Howe, and he wants to ensure he has enough depth to take care of such situations.
Tah is a hugely experienced player, and the £20 million-rated centre-back will be a great fit for Newcastle United. But, the Magpies will have to battle it out with Manchester United and West Ham United for his services.
The Red Devils have not had the best of starts to the new season. One of the major reasons has been the number of injuries they have suffered. Quite a few of their defenders are out injured, and Erik ten Hag is keen on defensive reinforcement. Tah is one of the names on their radar.

Meanwhile, David Moyes is looking to add more depth to his squad. The West Ham boss is an admirer of the 27-year-old and would love to have him in his ranks. His arrival will bolster their defence and end their struggles at the back. The Hammers have been interested in his services for a while now and could make a move in the winter.
