Newcastle United, West Ham United line up Rayan Vitor Simplico move.

Newcastle United are ready to fork out €40 million to acquire the services of 24-year-old Atalanta midfielder Ederson.

According to a report by Calciomercato, Newcastle United are keen on having Ederson in their ranks. The Magpies are looking to reinforce their midfield in the winter transfer window following the ban of Sandro Tonali and Atalanta’s 24-year-old is one of the players on their radar.

After proving himself in Brazil, Ederson joined Salernitana in the winter of 2022. He had an impressive start to life in Italy and six months later Atalanta prised him away from the Salernitana. Since joining them in the summer of 2022, the 24-year-old has featured in a total of 53 matches and has even contributed towards eight goals.

He is versatile in nature and can feature as a central midfielder as well as in a defensive role. In the ongoing season, he has been involved in 12 Serie A games and he has contributed towards five goals. His impressive performance has resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.

While the 24-year-old has become a very integral part of the Italian club and has a contract until the summer of 2026, Newcastle United are considering prising him away from Atalanta. They are ready to offer €40 million for the services of the Brazilian midfielder.

The Magpies recently suffered a huge blow as their summer signing Sandro Tonali was handed a 10-month-long ban. The former AC Milan star joined Newcastle in a big-money move in the summer. He was a marquee signing for the club following an impressive season which booked their spot in the Champions League.

The Italian international got off to a great start in England. He became an important part of Eddie Howe’s first team but his involvement in illegal betting during his days at Milan have proved costly. The 23-year-old won’t be available until next season. As a result, Howe is looking for a replacement and Ederson is one of the names on their radar.

While the 24-year-old doesn’t have the playing style of Tonali, he could still be a great fit for the Newcastle system. He is in incredible form and his arrival could be a great boost for the Magpies who are looking to finish inside the top four of the Premier League. They are willing to fork out €40 million and it is a sum that could tempt Atalanta into selling their star man.
