Manchester United have been linked with a move for Iran international striker Mehdi Taremi, who wants to move to Italy.

Mehdi Taremi is expected to leave FC Porto in the coming months, and clubs like AC Milan and Inter Milan are keen on the player as well. A report from Calciomercato claims that the veteran striker prefers a move to Italy instead of Manchester United.

Taremi scored 31 goals across all competitions last season, and he has been an outstanding servant for FC Porto. He could have been a quality short-term option for Manchester United, as they look to bring in attacking reinforcements.

Manchester United spent a substantial amount of money on Rasmus Hojlund during the summer transfer window. However, the young Dane needs more time to get going in the Premier League.  they could have used another goal scorer in the meantime. Taremi would have been the ideal acquisition for them.

The 31-year-old has the experience and quality to make an immediate impact, and he could have been a mentor for Hojlund as well. It seems that Taremi is keen on a move to Italy now, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up eventually.

Manchester United have had a disappointing start to the season by their standards, and they will be expected to turn things around and compete for trophies. They will also need to secure Champions League qualification after the amount of money they spent during the summer transfer window.

It will be interesting to see if Manchester United can bring in the necessary reinforcements in January and bounce back strongly during the second half of the campaign. Improving their attacking unit should be a top priority for Manchester United in January. Not only have they struggled to score goals consistently, they are lacking in creativity as well.

Wingers like Jadon Sancho and Antony have been largely underwhelming and Manchester United should look to invest in a quality winger along with a striker as well. As far as Taremi is concerned, he will look to prove himself in Italy if the transfer goes through. The opportunity to move to the Premier League can be hard to turn down for most players. But the 31-year-old is not too keen.
