La Liga giants Real Sociedad are reportedly interested in signing Argentine youth international Nico Paz from Real Madrid in January.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Nico Paz is the subject of interest from Real Sociedad. The Basque giants want to sign the 19-year-old Real Madrid prodigy in the January transfer window. And a part-exchange deal might be on the cards, with La Real looking to use Real Madrid’s interest in Takefusa Kubo.
Nicolas Paz Martinez, better known as Nico Paz, is a native of Santa Cruz and passed through the academies at CD San Juan and CD Tenerife before joining Real Madrid in 2016. Since then, the youngster has come leaps and bounds while choosing to represent Argentina on the international stage.
The 19-year-old progressed through the ranks at La Fabrica before breaking into the Real Madrid first-team squad this year. Apart from his two outings for the senior team, the teenage sensation is enjoying an excellent 2023/24 campaign, managing six goals and one assist in ten league outings for Real Madrid Castilla.
But regular game time on the first-team level will come few and far between for Nico Paz, considering there are six world-class midfielders ahead of him in the pecking order at Real Madrid. So, leaving Real Madrid in the January transfer window might serve him well. That brings Real Sociedad into the picture.
Interestingly, the Argentine youth international attracted interest from many well-known clubs in the summer, including Borussia Dortmund. But a move did not materialise, with Real Madrid choosing not to sell him. However, playing for Real Sociedad might bode well for the player, as he can gain experience in La Liga and UEFA Champions League.
But we might see a part-exchange deal materialising, with Real Madrid interested in Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo. The two La Liga clubs could negotiate a direct swap if the Basque giants complete a permanent move for Nico Paz. But if the Merengues refuse to sell, La Real will part ways with Kubo for €30 million, with the Real Madrid prodigy joining moving to the Reale Arena on loan.
