Tottenham Hotspur are keen on acquiring the services of the 25-year-old Bournemouth centre-back Lloyd Kelly in the winter transfer window.
According to a report by Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on having Lloyd Kelly in their ranks. Spurs might have failed to land him at the club in the summer but they are looking to ensure they land him at the club in the winter. But, this time around they will have to battle it out with Liverpool for his signatures.
Kelly joined Bournemouth in the summer of 2019 after coming through the ranks at Bristol City. He has gone from strength to strength since making the move. The 25-year-old has featured in a total of 124 games for the Cherries and he has even contributed towards nine goals.
The former England youth international has only featured in eight matches this season as he has been out injured. Despite that, there is a lot of interest in Kelly’s services.
Spurs are one of the clubs that have been linked with the 25-year-old for a while now. They are looking to put forward an offer for the English defender in the winter transfer window.
The London club wanted to add him to their ranks in the summer and they even submitted a £20 million bid for him late in the window. But, the Cherries rejected it as they didn’t have enough time to find an adequate replacement.
Ange Postecoglou got off to a great start at his new club. But, he is well aware of the fact they do not have much depth. As a result, they are looking to add a new defensive midfielder and defender in the near future. The injury to Micky van de Ven hasn’t altered Postecoglou’s plans and the idea still remains the same.
Meanwhile, Kelly’s contract at Bournemouth runs out at the end of the season and he has no intentions of penning down a new deal. The Cherries would love to have him in their ranks beyond the winter as they look to fight for survival in the Premier League. But, they can’t risk losing out him for free at the end of the year.
His contract situation has attracted a lot of attention and Spurs are not the only clubs interested in the 25-year-old. Even Liverpool are keen on having him in their ranks. The Merseyside club are looking for depth in the heart of the defence and Jurgen Klopp feels the former England international could be a great fit for the club. He has enough experience of playing in the English top flight and could easily fit into their system.
