Newcastle United keen on Tiago Djalo

Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United are interested in acquiring the services of the 23-year-old LOSC Lille defender Tiago Djaló.

According to a report by 90min, Newcastle United are keen on having Tiago Djaló in their ranks. The 23-year-old LOSC Lille defender’s contract runs out in the summer of 2024 and there is interest in his services from across Europe.

Barcelona are also looking to add to their defensive unit and the Spanish club are keeping tabs on the player as well.

Djaló came through the ranks at Sporting CP before joining the youth setup of AC Milan in the winter of 2019. Things didn’t work out well for him at the Italian club as a result, he joined LOSC Lille just six months down the line.

The 23-year-old has gone from strength to strength since making the move to France. He has established himself as one of the mainstays of the team. And, his incredible performances have attracted a lot of attention over the years.

Djaló has been out injured for a while now. He suffered a cruciate ligament tear earlier in the year and has taken no part in the ongoing season. He is expected to return to full fitness in the coming weeks.

Despite being out injured, the interest in the 23-year-old’s services has been quite high. And, with his contract expiring in just over six months all clubs are ready to pounce on any opportunity to land him at the club.

Newcastle United are one of the clubs interested in the Portuguese defender and they are ready to battle it out with other European giants who are keen on having him in their ranks. The Magpies are looking to bolster their defence and their manager is a huge admirer of Djalóu.

Eddie Howe feels the 23-year-old is the missing piece. Meanwhile, Newcastle have been keeping a close eye on the former Sporting defender’s rehab. The player has already made it clear to the French club that he will part ways in 2024. And, with his contract expiring, the Magpies do have a great opportunity to land him at the club. But they will face competition for his signatures.
