Florentino Perez has told Jorge Mendes that Real Madrid will not pay more than €50 million to sign in-demand Portuguese international Goncalo Inacio.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Goncalo Inacio is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The in-demand Portuguese international is one the radar of several high-profile clubs. But Real Madrid will not trigger his release clause and will instead fork out no more than €50 million to land him.
Goncalo Inacio has been exceptional since joining Sporting CP from Almada AC over a decade ago. The 22-year-old was excellent during his days in age-group football and has been a mainstay at the back for the Verde e brancos since breaking into the first-team squad.
Meanwhile, the youngster has also made his debut for the Portuguese national side, turning out four times thus far. As for Sporting CP, Inacio has made 136 appearances while chipping in with 11 goals and eight assists. The player’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of many high-profile clubs.
Several Premier League bigwigs are keen on securing Inacio’s services, with recent reports pointing to Liverpool being in the pole position. But Real Madrid’s entry into the picture will change the equation considerably. However, the Merengues are not ready to trigger his release clause of €60 million.
Recent reports have claimed that Real Madrid will look to sign the in-demand Portuguese international in the January transfer window. Los Blancos’ interest comes in the wake of the recent injury crisis. While David Alaba is not fit and available, Antonio Rudiger was the only centre-back at Carlo Ancelotti’s disposal for two weeks.
With Nacho in the final year of his contract and Alaba and Rudiger on the wrong side of 30, Real Madrid can do with a young centre-back. Inacio has thus emerged as a viable target for Los Blancos. But Real Madrid will not pay more than €50 million to secure the youngster’s services next year.

But it will be interesting to see if Sporting CP and Benfica are ready to accept such a sum for their prized assets.
