Manchester United, Newcastle United battle Arsenal, Chelsea for Benjamin Sesko, January move possible

Manchester United, Newcastle United, Arsenal and Chelsea are all set to battle it out for the services of 20-year-old Benjamin Sesko.

According to a report by 90min, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Arsenal and Chelsea are all keen on having Benjamin Sesko in their ranks. The 20-year-old has been putting in some impressive performances which have attracted a lot of attention of late.

Sesko came into the limelight while playing for RB Salzburg. He featured in a total of 79 matches for the Austrian club and even contributed towards 40 goals. He was on fire last season for Salzburg. The 20-year-old was involved in 30 league games and he managed to contribute towards 20 goals.

His impressive performances attracted a lot of attention from across Europe last summer. Some of the giants of the game wanted to acquire his services but he ended up joining Salzburg’s sister club RB Leipzig for a fee of just £20 million.

Leipzig managed to strike a bargain deal, they paid a fee that was not on offer for any other club. Since making the move to Germany, the 20-year-old hasn’t had much game time. Sesko has been involved in 13 games so far but he has been on the pitch for just 391 minutes.

He has been second fiddle to Lois Openda who joined Leipzig in the summer after scoring 21 goals for Lens in the French Ligue 1. Despite that, he has managed to score six goals so far. The game time hasn’t pleased the player and reports suggest that the German club are ready to sell him for double of what they paid for him in the summer.

While Sesko penned down a five-year deal with the German club and his contract runs until the summer of 2028, he could still part ways with them in the winter. Intermediaries have contacted a number of clubs that are interested in the 20-year-old to inform them that the Slovenian international could be available after the turn of the year.

Manchester United and Newcastle United have been scouting the 20-year-old for a while now. Both clubs wanted to sign him during the summer but a deal between the sister clubs resulted in neither of them succeeding in their pursuit.

But, they still remain interested and will look to return for his services. The Magpies are looking for more firepower while the Red Devils want someone who can support Rasmus Højlund up top.

United and the Magpies will have to battle it out with Arsenal and Chelsea. Mikel Arteta has two quality strikers in his ranks. But, he is still in search of someone with a different profile and a striker who can guarantee goals. And, he feels Sesko could be that player for his team.

Meanwhile, the Blues have struggled to score goals in the ongoing season. They have spent a significant amount on new forwards but it hasn’t reflected on the results. As a result, they are looking to sign another striker and adding the 20-year-old to their ranks in the winter will surely give them an added boost. With some of the biggest English clubs keen on having him in their ranks, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
