AC Milan are ready to battle it out with Tottenham Hotspur for the services of 25-year-old Bournemouth defender Lloyd Kelly.
According to a report by Tuttosport, AC Milan have entered the race for the services of Lloyd Kelly. The Italian giants are keen on signing a new defender in the winter transfer window and the 25-year-old is their priority target.
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in the services of the Bournemouth defender. Spurs wanted to acquire him in the summer but they failed to strike a deal with the Cherries. However, the north London club are still interested in having him in their ranks but they will face competition from Milan.
Kelly came through the ranks at Bristol City before joining Bournemouth in the summer of 2019. He has gone from strength to strength since making the move and has featured in a total of 123 matches. The 25-year-old has also contributed towards nine goals during his time at the club.
Of late, he has been one of the mainstays of the team and his impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed. And, with his contract expiring next summer, there is a possibility of him leaving the English club as a free agent.
Meanwhile, AC Milan are one of the clubs interested in the 25-year-old. They do have the option of signing him as a free agent next summer. But, the Italian giants are in desperate need of a new defender and they want to acquire Kelly’s services in the winter. They are ready to make an offer to the Cherries at the turn of the year.
According to the report, Milan’s technical director Geoffrey Moncada travelled to watch the former England youth international in action against Burnley. The trip was successful as the player managed to impress Moncada. And, Stefano Pioli’s side are now looking to start talks with the player’s representatives.
Milan are keen on having Kelly in their ranks and they can surely pull off such a transfer but they won’t find it easy because Spurs still remain interested in him despite having failed back in the summer. Ange Postecoglou was the one who wanted him at the club during the summer.
And, the Australian manager is still keen on having him in his ranks. Cristian Romero and summer signing Micky van de Ven have been doing wonders in the heart of the defence for Postecoglou but he still wants more depth. As a result, Spurs could also make a move for the 25-year-old in the winter transfer window alongside Milan.
