Aston Villa have been linked with a move for Sporting CP winger Pedro Goncalves, whose release clause is worth €80 million.

A report by A Bola via Sport Witness has claimed that Aston Villa will have to trigger the release clause to sign the Pedro Goncalves. The Portuguese international has a release clause of €80 million in his contract, so Aston Villa will have pay up a big sum to land him.

The 25-year-old has established himself as a key player for Sporting CP, and he could prove to be a quality acquisition for Aston Villa as well. The Premier League side are reportedly looking to get rid of Bertrand Traore, and they will need to bring in a quality replacement.

Goncalves mainly operates as a right-sided winger. But he is versatile enough to operate on the left as well. He will add goals and creativity to the side from the white areas. The 25-year-old scored 20 goals across all competitions last season and picked up 15 assists along the way as well.

It is evident that he is a proven performer at a high level, and the opportunity to play for Aston Villa could be an attractive option for him. Meanwhile, recent reports have claimed that the West Midlands club are ready to pay big to land him.

The Portuguese international has a contract with the Portuguese club until the summer of 2027. So, Aston Villa need to trigger his €80 million release clause to sign him anytime soon. A move to the Premier League would be the ideal next step in the winger’s career, and he will look to prove himself at the highest level.
