Aston Villa are looking to put forward an offer worth €15 million to acquire the services of 31-year-old Sevilla full-back Marcos Acuna.
According to a report by Fichajes, Aston Villa are keen on having Marcos Acuna in their ranks. The English club are desperately looking for a new left-back. Their manager Unai Emery is a big fan of the 31-year-old and wants him at his disposal in the upcoming winter transfer window. The Villans are ready to offer €15 million to land the World Cup-winning defender.
Acuna has been one of the mainstays of the Sevilla team since joining them back in the summer of 2020. Since arriving at the Spanish club, he has featured in a total of 131 matches and has even contributed towards 18 goals. The 31-year-old played a big part in helping them win the Europa League last season.
He has also been integral to Argentina’s success of late. The Sevilla full-back played a big part in their Copa America and World Cup triumphs. His consistent performances have attracted a lot of attention but he has remained at Sevilla.
However, things could change in the near future. According to the report, Acuna is looking for a new challenge elsewhere. And, he could be on his way to the Premier League, with Aston Villa interested in his services.
Unai Emery has done wonders at the club since taking charge. They are off to a great start in the 2023/24 season, but he feels the need to sign another left-back. The Spanish manager does not entirely trust Lucas Digne and with Alex Moreno out injured, he wants Villa to sign Acuna.
Aston Villa’s sporting director Monchi has given the green light to Emery’s request, and the English club are ready to table an offer worth €15 million. While Sevilla would love to have him in their ranks for years to come, they do not really have many options to pay with.
The World Cup-winning defender wants a new experience, and his contract runs out in just over 18 months. As a result, January will be the best time to cash in on him. Meanwhile, the Spanish club have already started working to ensure they can bring in a replacement in time if Acuna ends up joining Aston Villa in the winter.
