Liverpool are interested in acquiring the services of 21-year-old Boca Juniors midfield sensation Ezequiel Fernandez.
According to a report by Fichajes, Liverpool are keen on having Ezequiel Fernandez in their ranks. The 21-year-old Boca Juniors midfielder has been in sensational form over the past 12 months and he is on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in world football.
Fernandez has come up the ranks at Boca Juniors. The 21-year-old was sent out on loan to Tigre in the 2022 season to gain first-team experience. He featured in 42 matches for them before returning to his parent club ahead of the 2023 season.
His impressive loan spell resulted in him being promoted to their first team. And, he has since featured in a total of 43 games. The 21-year-old has also contributed towards two goals apart from his exceptional defensive work in the centre of the park.
His ability to feature as a defensive midfielder as well as a number eight when needed is one of the reasons he is on the radar of some top clubs in world football. Liverpool are one of the club monitoring him and they could push for his services in the near future.
The Merseyside club might have signed Wataru Endo, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai. But, they are still on the lookout for a new defensive midfielder. They want to sign someone who is young and can help the club in the short as well as long term.
Fernández seems to be a perfect fit for the club. And, with Thiago Alcantara’s contract expiring signing the 21-year-old can surely help their cause. While he might not be a like-for-like replacement, Liverpool’s new pool of midfielders seems to cover the majority of the bases and Fernández’s arrival will add depth to the defensive side of things.
With the player’s contract expiring at the end of 2025, Liverpool surely stands a chance is signing him. But, there are other top clubs who will push Jurgen Klopp’s team all the way.
