Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are interested in having 26-year-old Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Carlos Soler in their ranks.
According to a report by Fichajes, Aston Villa would love to have Carlos Soler in their ranks. The 26-year-old midfielder’s future at Paris Saint-Germain is uncertain, and he could be on his way out in the near future.
Soler came through the ranks at his childhood club Valencia. He made it to their first team in the winter of 2017 and went on to feature in over 200 matches for the club. The 26-year-old even contributed towards 67 goals before parting ways and joining Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
In his first season at the French club, the 26-year-old was involved in a total of 38 games, and he even contributed towards 11 goals. He got off to a decent start at PSG, and his role was expected to improve with the arrival of Luis Enrique as their new manager. Enrique was in charge of Spain at the last World Cup and he had included Soler in his squad for the global event.
His arrival was expected to benefit Soler greatly, but that has not been the case. His game time has taken a major hit in the 2023/24 season, and he is no longer a regular starter. He has been involved in seven league games but has been on the pitch for less than 200 minutes. The 26-year-old is not happy with the situation and could be open to the idea of leaving the club in the near future.
While his contract with PSG runs until the summer of 2027, there is uncertainty around his future and a move away from Parc des Princes could be on the cards. The report suggests that Enrique is looking to incorporate a new midfielder into the mix, someone who is attacking in nature. But, before PSG sign someone, they will have to offload someone and Soler could be the one.
That is where Aston Villa come in. Unai Emery is looking to add a new midfielder to his ranks. They have been linked with the 26-year-old and would surely love to have him at their disposal. He is versatile in nature, and his ability to feature in multiple roles across the pitch could help Emery take Villa to the next step.
But, it won’t be easy to sign Soler. There are numerous other Premier League clubs who are interested in the Spanish international, and they won’t make it easy for Aston Villa. On top of that, a return to Valencia is also on the cards.
