Chelsea retain interest in Pau Cubarsi

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing 16-year-old Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi, who faces an uncertain future at the club.

Pau Cubarsi is highly rated at FC Barcelona, and a report from Spanish publication SPORT claims that Chelsea are following the 16-year-old defender very closely.

The teenage sensation recently signed a new contract with Barcelona this summer until the summer of 2026. So, the Spanish giants will be reasonably confident of holding on to him for the long run.

He has a bright future ahead of him, and it is no surprise that the Premier League giants are keeping tabs on him. Meanwhile, Chelsea have a tendency of signing talented young players and nurturing them into quality first-team options.

They are hoping to add to the pool of young talent at the club, and Cubarsi could prove to be a solid long-term investment for them. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few months.

The 16-year-old has already impressed with his maturity, and he is expected to develop into a first-team player for Barcelona in the coming seasons. Apparently, the player has a release clause in his contract worth around €10-15 million. A club with Chelsea’s resources should be able to pay that kind of money with ease.

The defender could prove to be a quality long-term investment for Chelsea, and the transfer could look like a major bargain if he manages to fulfil his potential. Mauricio Pochettino has a proven track record of nurturing talented young players, and he showed that during his time at Espanyol, Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur.

Working under the Argentine manager could be ideal for the 16-year-old defender as well. Pochettino could help him fulfil his tremendous potential and improve as a player in the coming seasons.

It remains to be seen whether the player is ready to join Chelsea if there is a concrete offer on the table. The reported release clause is too low for a talent like the 16-year-old, and Barcelona might be powerless to stop him from leaving in the coming months.
