Anthony Martial has fallen down the pecking order at Manchester United, and the Red Devils are looking to sell him.
A report from talkSPORT claims that Manchester United are now actively looking to offload Anthony Martial. The 27-year-old can operate anywhere across the front three, and his versatility will be an added bonus for any club hoping to sign him.
Martial was regarded as a world-class talent when he joined Manchester United from AS Monaco in a £57 million deal. However, his development has not gone according to plan, and he has not been able to live up to the expectations at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils will have to sign better players if they want to compete for major trophies, and selling Martial would be ideal for all parties. The Frenchman will be hoping to play regularly at this stage of his career, and he is unlikely to get that opportunity at Old Trafford. It remains to be seen where he ends up eventually.
There is no doubt that he could be a quality player for most clubs if he can regain his confidence and sharpness. Apart from his ability to score goals, Martial will add pace, flair and technical ability in the final third as well.
Manchester United are unlikely to be able to recoup the £57 million they paid for the striker, and they will have to accept a loss on the player. The 27-year-old is very much at the peak of his powers right now despite his recent struggles, and he could be a useful player for his next club. He has been linked with a number of clubs in France and Spain over the last few months.
Manchester United signed Rasmus Hojlund during the summer transfer window, and the Danish international is expected to lead the line for the Red Devils in the coming seasons. Martial will not want to be a backup option to the youngster, and it makes sense for him to move on as well.
Meanwhile, Manchester United need to add some quality and depth to their attacking unit as well. The Red Devils currently have Hojlund and Marcus Rashford as the only reliable goalscorers at the club. They should look to bring in another striker who is versatile enough to operate on the flanks as well.
In addition to that, they should look to sign a goalscoring winger. The likes of Jadon Sancho and Antony have been largely underwhelming, and Manchester United have suffered in the final third as a result of that.
