Premier League heavyweights Liverpool are reportedly considering a surprise move for disgruntled Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.
According to a report from Radio Kiss Kiss via Napoli Magazine, Liverpool have a strong interest in Victor Osimhen, and they could look to make a move for him next year. The 24-year-old is unsettled at Serie A club Napoli.
Valter De Maggio, director of Radio Kiss Kiss said, “There is strong, strong interest in Victor Osimhen from Liverpool. Then we will need to understand if the Reds will put pressure on Osimhen’s agent whether it is renewed or not. “
Osimhen is expected to leave Napoli at the end of the season, and he will want to join a big club capable of winning major trophies. A move to Liverpool would not be a bad option for him. But it will be interesting to see how Jurgen Klopp accommodates him in the starting lineup.
Liverpool already have players like Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo as the options to lead the line. They will not want to sit on the bench next season at Anfield. So, Liverpool might have to sell someone before signing another striker.
Osimhen is one of the best strikers in the world right now, and he helped Napoli win the Serie A title last season. The 24-year-old Nigerian international scored 31 goals across all competitions, and he could transform Liverpool in the final third. Nunez and Gakpo have done a reasonably good job at Liverpool so far, but Osimhen certainly seems like an upgrade on current form.
That said, both Nunez and Gakpo are exceptional talents, and Liverpool might regret their decision if they decide to sell any of the two players in the upcoming windows. Meanwhile, Osimhen has been linked with other Premier League clubs as well, and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
The Napoli striker is likely to cost a substantial amount of money, and he is reportedly valued at €120 million. Meanwhile, Mohamed Salah has been linked to the move away from Liverpool, and it will be interesting to see if Liverpool decide to sell him and invest the proceeds from the sale into the Napoli striker.

It is fair to assume that Liverpool will have to secure Champions League qualification if they want to sign players of his quality. The 24-year-old will want to compete at the highest level and he is unlikely to join a club without Champions League football.
