Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe has been linked with a move to Newcastle United, who want him on an initial loan deal.

A report from Daily Mirror claims that Newcastle United are hoping to sign the Emile Smith Rowe on an initial loan deal  next year. But Arsenal will prefer to cash in on the 23-year-old when they part ways with him.

The Englishman has returned from a long-term injury, but he is struggling to hold down a regular starting spot at Arsenal. He needs more game time in order to return to his best, and a loan move could be ideal for him.

Arsenal are already well stocked in the attacking midfield department, and they should look to loan the 23-year-old out if Newcastle United promise him regular game time. But the Gunners want to sell him permanently instead of looking for a temporary solution.

Smith Rowe is undoubtedly a top-class talent with a big future ahead of him, and he has shown that previously at Arsenal. He was expected to develop into one of the best attacking midfielders in the Premier League. But his development has stalled because of injuries.

There is no reason why he cannot return to that level once again. But a move away from Arsenal would be ideal for him right now. It remains to be seen whether Newcastle United can convince the Gunners to loan the player out during the January transfer window. However, Arsenal might not want to strengthen their top-four rivals midway through the season.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United could certainly use more creativity in the final third. Smith Rowe can operate as a central attacking midfielder as well as a winger. He will certainly add goals and assists to the side if we can regain his confidence and sharpness.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has done well to nurture talented young players throughout his managerial career, and he could help get the best out of the arsenal midfielder as well. So, their interest in the 23-year-old is understandable.

Former Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock succeeded with a move to Newcastle United as well. So, Smith Rowe could be attracted to the idea of playing for the Magpies. It will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds over the next few weeks.

The 23-year-old will want to prove himself at the highest level, and Newcastle will offer him the opportunity to showcase his qualities in the Champions League as well. It would certainly be an exciting move for him Newcastle will also benefit from extra depth and quality in their attack. On a loan deal, it would be no risk signing for Newcastle, and the move could prove to be a bargain for them.
