David Moyes’ West Ham United are interested in acquiring the services of 26-year-old Atlético Mineiro defender Guilherme Arana.
According to a report by 90min, West Ham United are keen on having Guilherme Arana in their ranks. The Hammers have been monitoring his performances for a while and could formalise their interest with an offer in the winter transfer window.
Arana came through the ranks at Corinthians before having stints at two European clubs. He has had spells at Sevilla and Atalanta’s first team back in the day. He returned back to Brazil and joined Atlético Mineiro in the winter of 2020. After an impressive loan spell, the move was made permanent in the summer of 2021.
The 26-year-old has gone from strength to strength since joining the Brazilian club. He has featured in a total of 159 matches and has also contributed towards 38 goals. The full-back has been in exceptional form over the past 18 months and has managed to revive his career in some fashion.
His impressive performances have helped him make a comeback to the Brazil national team. And, interest in his services seem to be at an all-time high. The 26-year-old recently featured for Brazil in their World Cup qualifier against Venezuela.
Brazil might have failed to keep a clean sheet but the full-back did put in an impressive shift in the 1-1 draw. Quite a few clubs were present in the stands of the Arena Pantanal to monitor the 26-year-old according to the report.
West Ham United representatives were also present in the stands. The Hammers have a long-standing interest in the Brazil international. And, they are looking to formalise it in the winter. They are ready to put forward an offer for his services.
Arana’s contract runs out at the end of next year. And, with just over a year left on his deal, it won’t be that difficult to acquire his service. And, according to reports, the Brazilian club won’t stand in his way if a decent offer arrives in the winter.
David Moyes feels the need for a new left-sided full-back and he is keen on having Arana in his ranks. Currently, Emerson Palmieri has been a constant feature for the London club at the left-back slot with veteran Aaron Cresswell inured.
With the England international already 33, the Hammers feel it’s the right time to bring in a new full-back. As a result, they could push for the services of the Atlético Mineiro defender in January.
