Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is all set to hold one-on-one talks with their 31-year-old defensive midfielder Casemiro.

According to Ben Jacobs via GIVEMESPORT, Erik ten Hag is all set to hold talks with Casemiro to discuss his recent performances. The 31-year-old has not been at his best since the start of the season, and his form has caused a lot of trouble for the Red Devils in the 2023/24 season so far.

Manchester United have had one of the worst starts to a new campaign this time around. Nothing seems to be going right for Erik ten Hag and his men. While they did win in their last outing against Brentford thanks to an injury time brace by Scott McTominay, they have been struggling in all aspects.

The Red Devils are currently tenth in the Premier League with four wins and as many defeats in eight outings. They have a goal difference of -3. In the Champions League, they are yet to open their account, having lost both their opening games.

One of the reasons for their poor start to the new season has been the form of Casemiro. The 31-year-old joined the Manchester-based club last summer for a fee of £70 million from Real Madrid. He had a great first season with the club.

But, things have not gone according to plan for him in the 2023-24 season. He has featured in 11 matches and has five goal contributions. But, he has failed to deliver on the defensive side of things. The Brazil international has been sent off once and was subbed off by his manager in their last outing.

Casemiro is the highest-paid player at Manchester United as he earns a massive £350,000 per week. But, his performances have now become a headache for their manager who is all set to hold a one-on-one meeting with the Brazil international according to Jacobs.

Jacobs said, “He is very well-liked at the club. But if you ask him to fulfil a new role, change something or train a different way, there will still be some pushback. That’s not because there is necessarily tension or friction, but just because that’s how established, elite-level players work.

“They’ve had success all their lives while often doing things one way, and Casemiro spent so long at Real Madrid that he is probably not going to dramatically change that.

“I think what ten Hag will do, as I understand it, is hold some one-on-one talks with Casemiro to understand what’s happening this season and find a solution. That solution, after the international break, may involve a few more minutes for Scott McTominay.”

Jacob believes the 31-year-old has an exceptional relationship with people at the club as well as his teammates. But, he is not really open to new ideas when it comes to training that might be because of the kind of success he has had at Real Madrid doing things his way.

The journalist feels in the end after the two hold a meeting, the solution might be a few more minutes for Scott McTominay in the upcoming games. While Ten Hag will try his best to get his highest-paid player back in form, he will have to look elsewhere if Casemiro fails to revive himself.

ManU are holding an enquiry as to why there are so many injuries at the club! What a joke. This manager buys players with injuries (Mount and Arambat). The club also buys old men at extortionate prices who are burnt out and have less endurance than my Grandma. Their legs have gone and their joints are shot. Casemiro, Martinez and that French guy who plays in defence every month or so. They need to clear the lot out together with the manager! Then bring Sancho back (I’d rather have him in the team than Ten Hag as manager). I’m sick of reading that we are looking at a new player who’s going to make the team great again. Ten Hag has had the chances to bring in good players and he’s failed.
