Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool remain interested in the services of 28-year-old Portuguese international Joao Palhinha, valued at £70 million.

According to a report by Anfield Watch, Liverpool are still keen on having Joao Palhinha in their ranks. They were interested in the 28-year-old Fulham midfielder in the summer and have retained their interest in the services of the Portuguese international. Fulham value the player at around £70 million.

Palhinha was the talk of the town right until the end of the transfer window. His exceptional performances for the Cottagers in the Premier League resulted in a lot of interest. Some of the biggest clubs in Europe want to land him.

Bayern Munich came very close to acquiring his services. The player was in Germany ready to complete his move. But Fulham failed to find a replacement in time and the deal collapsed. Palhinha ended up staying at the English club and weeks after the end of the window, he penned down a new deal with the Cottagers.

Palhinha’s new contract now runs until the summer of 2028, and there is no release clause in his contract. That gives Fulham the freedom to demand a high price like £70 million. Meanwhile, there is still interest in his services from Liverpool.

Bayern have not made any move since the deadline day move collapsed. This has alerted the Merseyside club that there is a possibility of signing the 28-year-old. He was on Jurgen Klopp’s radar during the summer, as Liverpool looked to complete an overhaul.

However, their priority was to sign either Moises Caicedo or Romeo Lavia. But, Liverpool failed to land either of them at the club. At this point in time, Alexis Mac Allister is playing as a holding midfielder despite them having signed 30-year-old Wataru Endo.

The current situation makes it pretty clear that the Reds are in desperate need of a new number six to take things to the next level. They feel Palhinha would be a great fit for the club because of his performances in the English top flight while playing for Fulham.

While there is no release clause in the 28-year-old’s contract, the report suggests the Cottagers could let him leave for a fee of around £70 million. Meanwhile, Liverpool have already set aside £60 million for the winter window. And, they can surely push for his services by offloading a player or two.
