Manchester United are keen on acquiring the services of 22-year-old Real Sociedad winger Takefusa Kubo, a target for Real Madrid.

According to a report by Defensa Central, Manchester United are keen on having Takefusa Kubo in their ranks. Erik ten Hag is looking for further reinforcement in attack and has his eyes set on the Japanese international. But, the Red Devils will have to battle it out with Real Madrid for his signatures, with Los Blancos ready to pay €30 million to re-sign him.

Kubo made quite a name for himself while playing for FC Tokyo. Some of the biggest clubs were monitoring his development and wanted to land him at their club. Eventually, Real Madrid won the race for his signatures and signed him in the summer of 2019.

He did not really get much game time at Real Madrid in his first season and was sent out on loan for the 2020/21 season. After arriving at the club, the 22-year-old never really got a long stretch of games to showcase his abilities as he was either on the bench or out on loan.

Finally, Real Madrid decided to sell him to Real Sociedad last year. Kubo has gone from strength to strength since joining La Real. He has featured in a total of 53 games and has contributed towards 25 goals. He has featured in nine matches this season and already has seven goal contributions.

The Japanese sensation’s exceptional performances have caught the eye of the Red Devils, who are looking for a new right winger after the fallout between Jadon Sancho and their manager Erik ten Hag. Sancho was expected to do wonders at Manchester United. But at this point in time, he is not a part of their first team and looks all set for an exit in the winter.

As a result, ten Hag wants a new right winger and feels Kubo could be a great addition to their ranks. But, they will need the approval of Real Madrid president Florentino Perez for this transfer. Los Blancos might have sold him to Real Sociedad, but they still have a lot of say in his future.

They have the right of first refusal as well as the opportunity to match any offer submitted by any other club. On top of that, if there is no bid on the table for the 22-year-old, Real Madrid can sign him for half the price (€30 million) of his termination clause which is €60 million, which they are willing to pay.

While Manchester United are keen on having him in their ranks, even Los Blancos are considering bringing him back to bolster their attack. As a result, it will be interesting to see if Manchester United can land Kubo at Old Trafford in the near future.
