Liverpool and Real Madrid are all set to battle it out for the signatures of 21-year-old Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapie.

According to a report by Defensa Central, Real Madrid are keen on having Piero Hincapie in their ranks. The 21-year-old has been doing wonders at Bayer Leverkusen under the orders of Xabi Alonso and he is on the radar of Los Blancos. But, the Spanish giants will face competition from Liverpool who are interested in his services. Meanwhile, the player has a €50 million price tag.

After an impressive season at Argentine club CA Talleres, Bayer Leverkusen acquired the services of Hincapie in the summer of 2021. The Ecuador international has gone from strength to strength since making the move to Germany. He has become one of the mainstays of the Bundesliga club.

He has featured in 81 matches since arriving at the club and has even contributed towards five goals. In the ongoing season, the 21-year-old has only featured in five matches and he has been on the pitch for just 132 minutes.

But, that is because he was suspended for the first three matches of the season. And, things will surely improve with time given the kind of importance he has last season under Alonso. His impressive performances in the heart of defence have attracted the attention of Real Madrid.

Los Blancos are keen on signing a new centre-back in the near future. They have found themselves in a spot of bother because of the number of injuries that their defenders have picked up in the ongoing season. And, the Real Madrid board wants to ensure they have enough depth in the future.

Antonio Rüdiger is the only centre-back available to Carlo Ancelotti in the league, with Nacho suspended and Eder Militao and David Alaba injured. Real Madrid thus want to add Hincapie to their ranks to freshen up things at the back and ensure they do not find themselves in such circumstances again.

Meanwhile, Los Blancos will be looking for a new manager next summer. Xabi Alonso is one of the names on their radar according to reports, and his arrival could play a key role in the signing of the 21-year-old centre-back, for whom Bayer Leverkusen want €50 million.

While the Bundesliga club would love to have him in their ranks for years to come, they are well aware of the interest in his services and are ready to let him leave for €50 million.

But, Real Madrid are the only team interested in the 21-year-old. Even Liverpool are keeping a close eye on him. The Merseyside club have had their own struggles at the back and want to incorporate the Ecuador international into their ranks to ensure they have enough quality as well as depth to challenge for major titles again.
