Liverpool could return to Fluminense for midfielder Andre as the Merseysiders are now hopeful of concluding a move in January.

According to Anfield Watch, Liverpool are hopeful of signing the midfield target in the January window as Fluminense will be more open to a sale. Jurgen Klopp wanted the 22-year-old Brazilian during the summer, but the Rio-based club wanted to keep hold of him at least until the conclusion of Copa Libertadores.

South American clubs, especially those from Brazil, take the Copa Libertadores very seriously. In the past, there have been many instances where European clubs have faced defeat in pursuit of their players in the summer window, particularly those teams who are vying for the continental title.

During the summer window, Liverpool chased midfielder Andre to no avail, as Fluminense rejected their bid for the 22-year-old midfielder. Jurgen Klopp wanted to bring him after the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to the Saudi Pro League.

After conceding defeat to Fluminense in the chase for Andre, Liverpool switched their attention towards other targets like Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo, which ended without any success. Eventually, they brought in 30-year-old Wataru Endo from Stuttgart to fill a void in their midfield.

The Japanese star does not offer longevity, and hence, Liverpool are open to revisiting the Andre case once the January window opens. Fluminense are open to selling the midfielder then but would seek a higher asking price.

The 22-year-old Brazilian might have a €40 million release clause in his contract. However, Fluminense were open to offers of around €25 million in the summer on the condition that Andfre would stay until January. None of the interested clubs, including Chelsea, West Ham and Fulham, were keen to oblige, which all but ended the hunt for the midfielder.

Klopp seems adamant about landing Andre at all costs and might push the club to do business with Fuminnese. Liverpool, as per the report, are now hopeful of sealing a deal in January and bring the midfielder to England.

Once again, there will be other teams tracking the situation and may come up with offers to rival Liverpool. Andre, for his part, reportedly would love a move to Anfield but remains open to joining any other team in the Premier League if a move to Merseyside does not materialise.
