Chelsea are ready to outmuscle Barcelona by paying what’s needed for Gabriel Moscardo and agreeing on a deal with Corinthians soon.
According to Fichajes, Chelsea are advancing in their efforts to sign 18-year-old Barcelona target Gabriel Moscardo. The teenager has emerged as one of the top talents from South America, and a host of clubs, including the Blaugrana, are chasing his signature.
Chelsea had hoped to prise one of Brazil’s highly-rated talent to England with minimum fuss since the summer. Yet, they have faced difficulties. Gabriel Moscardo emerged on their radar after a glowing review from those in charge of recruitment. The Blues want to sign the 18-year-old at all costs.
As things got clearer, Barcelona were already informed about the player and the 18-year-old, liked by Xavi Hernandez for the club. With Deco pulling the strings, reports claimed they were willing to pay the €30 million required to convince Corinthians.
Any youngster would dream of the prospect of playing for one of the Spanish giants. Moscardo may have harboured ambitions of donning the Barcelona strips. However, the financial instability the Catalans continue to endure could derail a potential transfer to Camp Nou.
Barcelona seemed like the favourites to sign him amid interest from Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid, but now things look dicey. Chelsea are willing to push forward with their efforts to sign the teenager and bring him to the blue side of London.
Chelsea had already lodged a €21 million plus €4 million offer to tempt Corinthians, who responded by asking €30 million for Moscardo. With interest mounting from elsewhere and especially Barcelona, the Stamford Bridge side are keen to wrap up the deal.
One would assume Chelsea is willing to pay the €30 million needed to convince Corinthians. Additionally, they could financially outmuscle Barcelona to get Moscardo.
Chelsea have done some exceptional business in the continent since their new owners took over. They have recently brought in Andrey Santos and Angelo Gabriel from Brazil.
Moscardo is a highly-rated talent who could make the central midfield position at any top club his own. Chelsea already have a young core of midfielders and they are keen to future-proof their youthful project by bringing in players like the 18-year-old Barcelona target.
