Chelsea will need to sell multiple players in order to sign Victor Osimhen

Juventus vs SSC Napoli Preview: Probable Lineups, Prediction, Tactics, Team News & Key Stats.

Osimhen has been a star for Napoli.

Chelsea may have to sell some of their first-team stars to fund a move for 24-year-old star Victor Osimhen to solve their striker issues.

According to Football Insider, Chelsea are reportedly interested in Victor Osimhen but may have to sell some of their first-team stars to fund a move. The 24-year-old star has endured some problematic times at Napoli and may find a way to get out in January or next summer.

Victor Osimhen was one of those star players who did not move to a bigger club in the summer window. The Napoli star was widely tipped to join one of the Premier League giants during the close season, but Aurelio De Laurentiis decided against entertaining approaches for the Nigerian.

That or he put a massive price tag on Osimhen, which would have priced out several of his suitors. De Laurentiis initially had plans to extend the 24-year-old’s contract and maintain his valuation. However, things have changed for him at Napoli.

Osimhen’s agent recently threatened with legal action over a TikTok video posted by the club’s social media team. The 24-year-old star was seemingly enraged at the post and did not seem like a happy figure. Reports of Chelsea tracking his situation emerged, which has rekindled links with the striker.

Osimhen’s current deal expires in 2025, which opens up the possibility of an imminent move away from Napoli. There are fewer chances of it happening in January, but football transfers are a world of different ideas, as anything is possible.

Real Madrid are also interested, but as things stand, the Premier League seems the likely destination for Osimhen to join. Other sides like Arsenal are also keen and could make a concerted effort to convince the Nigerian to join them.

Reports suggest Chelsea is the logical destination from Osimhen’s perspective. To make this transfer happen, the Blues may have to offload some of their first team stars to raise funds.

Osimhen will certainly cost more than £100 million, and Napoli will not accept anything less. Chelsea have spent over a billion in the last three windows on new players, but now their spending could stop without considerable sales.

The likes of Marc Cucurella, Noni Madueke and Trevoh Chalobah could all leave, which could raise enough funds for the transfer of Osimhen. Things could get clearer as we approach January. Realistically, moving in that window seems unlikely from Napoli’s perspective.
