Xavi’s Barcelona are interested in acquiring the services of the 24-year-old Arsenal utility man Kai Havertz.

According to a report by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona could make a move for the services of Kai Havertz. The 24-year-old German attacking midfielder has recently joined Arsenal but he could end up leaving the club in 2024.

He hasn’t had the best of starts since joining the Gunners and they could look to get him off their books just months after having signed him in a big money move.

Havertz came through the ranks at Bayer Leverkusen and made it to their first team quite early. He went from strength to strength while playing for the German club and was amongst the best forwards in the Bundesliga when Chelsea decided to acquire his services back in 2020.

The Blues broke the bank and paid around €100 million for the 24-year-old’s services. Havertz started off in fine fashion at the London club and he even played a big part in helping them win the Champions League. But, post that, things have slowly gone off track for the German international.

He went down the pecking order and was sold to Arsenal in the recently concluded transfer window. The former Chelsea attacking midfielder has already featured in nine games for his club but he is yet to register an assist or score a goal.

The 24-year-old has struggled for form and has found himself on the bench in the recent past. While it is still quite early, the Gunners are not really happy with their investment. They paid €75 million to sign him from the Blues and his deal with the club runs until the summer of 2028.

Mikel Arteta’s team are paying him huge wages and if he fails to deliver, they could end up offloading him in 2024. They will look to recoup a part of their investment and sign a replacement.

Meanwhile, Barcelona could be a potential destination for the 24-year-old. The Catalan giants are in financial trouble at this point in time. As a result, they focus on players whose contracts are expiring, players who are on the decline or players that clubs want to offload.

They made quite a few exceptional signings in the recently concluded transfer window because of their strategy. And, could once again do the same in the case of Havertz. If Arsenal don’t manage to get the best out of him and consider offloading him, the Catalan giants could make a move for the German international.

If barcelona offered them more money than what Arteta paid Chelsea for him, then Arsenal would sell him. They would definitely NOT accept less money for him as this would make them look foolish.
