Barcelona are interested in securing the services of 27-year-old midfielder Giovani Lo Celso who is keen on continuing at Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a report by Mundo Deportivo, Giovani Lo Celso has no intentions of leaving Tottenham Hotspur in the winter transfer window. The 27-year-old wants to continue at the English club amid interest in his services from Barcelona.

Lo Celso signed for the North London club back in 2019 when Mauricio Pochettino was in charge of the club. He had a decent start to life at Spurs under the leadership of Pochettino. But, once the Argentine tactician left, things slowly started to fall apart.

The 27-year-old initially joined them on a season-long loan, and the move was made permanent for €32 million in the summer of 2020. Over the next 18 months, he slowly started losing his spot in their first team and was loaned out to Villarreal in the winter of 2022.

After two loan spells at the Spanish club, Lo Celso is back and is a part of their first team. Spurs’ new boss Ange Postecoglou rates him very highly and wants him to stay at the club at all costs. The 27-year-old attacking midfielder is currently out injured but once he returns, he is expected to have an important role under the Australian boss.

The Argentine international has close to two years left on his deal with the North London club, and he is keen on staying and succeeding at the club. Despite interest from Barcelona, Lo Celso wants to stay at Spurs. After having struggled at Tottenham during the initial years, he wants to prove himself in the English top flight. As a result, he does not want to part ways with them.

Meanwhile, the Catalan giants have been interested in the 27-year-old for a while. Xavi wanted to bolster his midfield after a few of their stars left, and he did manage to add a lot of quality to their ranks by signing Oriol Romeu and Ilkay Gundogan.

But, the Spanish manager wanted to add a creative player who could open up the opposition’s defence with his exceptional passing ability. He felt Lo Celso could do the job having seen him play in the La Liga in the recent past.

They wanted to sign him in the summer but could not manage to strike a deal for his services. While they still remain interested, the player does not want to part ways with the London club. He is desperate to continue at Tottenham and succeed at the North London club.
