Manchester United have reportedly been linked with a move for 28-year-old Bayern Munich attacker Serge Gnabry.

A report from Abend Zeitung claims that rumours linking Serge Gnabry with Manchester United are nothing more than a rumour. In addition, the Red Devils are likely to sign the German international any time soon.

Gnabry has been a key player for Bayern Munich since joining them, and he could have been a quality acquisition for the Red Devils. Manchester United need to add more attacking quality to the side, especially with the way the likes of Antonio and Jadon Sancho have performed since joining the club.

Manchester United spent significant sums of money on both players. But their performances have been largely underwhelming. In addition, both are on the sidelines due to issues off the field, adding to the problems at Old Trafford.

It will be interesting to see if the Red Devils decide to bring in a quality winger in the coming months. Gnabry can operate anywhere across the front three, and he could have added goals and creativity to the Manchester United attack had he joined the club. So, the recent links made sense.

The German international has played in the Premier League before with Arsenal and West Bromwich Albion. He should be able to settle in quickly and make an immediate impact if he decides to return to England.

However, the 28-year-old is a key player for Bayern Munich and it is highly unlikely that they will sanction his departure anytime soon. Meanwhile, Gnabry has a contract with the German club until the summer of 2026, and Bayern Munich are under no pressure to sell him.

Manchester United would have to pay well over the odds in order to convince them to part with their prized asset. The Red Devils are looking to rebuild the side under Erik ten Hag, and they will be hoping to compete for major trophies in the coming season. They are currently ninth in the league table and the German international might not be keen on a move to Old Trafford just yet.

He plays for a club capable of winning major trophies every season, and a move to Manchester United could come across as a step down for him. It will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few months and whether the Red Devils decide to invest in a quality attacker during the January transfer window.
