Tottenham want €15 million for Giovani Lo Celso amid Barcelona links

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly demand around €15 million to part ways with Giovani Lo Celso, a target for Barcelona.

According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Giovani Lo Celso remains the subject of interest from Barcelona. Tottenham will demand around €15 million to part ways with the out-of-favour midfielder. So, the Blaugrana will not have to break the bank to sign the Argentine playmaker.

Giovani Lo Celso has failed to stamp his authority since completing a permanent move to Tottenham in a deal worth €32 million. The 27-year-old had enjoyed a solid loan spell in the 2019/20 season at the North London club. But he has not made his mark at Tottenham in the last three years, even spending 18 months at Villarreal.

While the Argentine international was superb during his stay at Villarreal, he returned to Tottenham in the summer. But Lo Celso has failed to win over Ange Postecoglou, managing only 61 minutes of game time thus far this season. So, a January departure might be on the cards, with Barcelona among his prospective suitors.

Barcelona wanted to secure Lo Celso’s services in the summer transfer window. But Ange Postecoglou blocked his departure, hoping to get the best out of him. However, with the player failing to impress the new Tottenham manager, he will be counting the days until the January transfer window.

Recent reports have claimed that Tottenham will listen to offers for the 27-year-old in the winter transfer window. That should work in Barcelona’s favour, considering he will have 18 months left on his Tottenham contract. Meanwhile, their interest is understandable, considering the lack of depth in the wake of the injuries suffered by Frenkie de Jong and Pedri.

Lo Celso is thus a viable target for Barcelona. And the Catalan giants now know how much they need to fork out to secure his services. The report claims that Tottenham will demand around €15 million to part ways with the Argentine international.

But Barcelona might face an uphill task to secure Lo Celso’s services, with recent reports claiming he wants to rejoin Real Betis. It is also unclear if Barcelona can afford to cough up €15 million to land the out-of-favour Tottenham playmaker.
