Tottenham ready to shatter wage structure for Son-Heung min

Tottenham are willing to shatter their strict wage structure to hand Son-Heung min a new deal to reflect on his status as the club’s main man.

According to Football Insider, Tottenham are open to offering club captain Son-Heung min a new deal that could shatter their strict wage structure. The 31-year-old attacker has been in sensational form under Ange Postecoglou, and the new contract could reflect his newfound status within the squad.

Tottenham fans still remember what Harry Kane did for the club but have already moved on under the leadership of Ange Postecoglou. The Australian manager has instilled new ideas in this side, playing a pleasing style of football with more attacking intent.

Spurs have started their season brilliantly and have stayed unbeaten after six games. Their latest came earlier today in the North London Derby, where Son-Heung min’s brace earned them a stellar draw away from their bitter rivals.

The two goals were assisted by summer signing James Maddison, as the duo and other teammates are playing like a well-drilled unit. Son, in particular, has seen his stature in the club ranks rise to a new level, especially after Postecoglou named him his new captain.

Moreover, since Kane’s departure, he has taken on the mantle of their star man, and now the club plans to upgrade his contract to reflect his importance. The 31-year-old attacker’s current contract expires in 2026, and Tottenham are ready to trigger the extension option.

Son had reportedly made it clear he wanted to continue with Tottenham during the summer amid some interest from other clubs. Hence, Spurs feel they must secure the future of their star man, who, despite his modest age, is showing no signs of slowing down.

Tottenham could open talks over a new deal, and as per the report, the improved salary could shatter their otherwise strict wage structure. Kane was reportedly on a massive wage before he left, and Spurs now have the room to manoeuvre to hand Son a bumper pay rise.

The South Korean reportedly earns £190,000 a week in wages, and the new contract will significantly reflect his status within the squad. With a new deal, Spurs would secure the future of their star man, who looks right at home under the tutelage of Postecoglou.
