Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah could leave Anfield in 2024.
According to Ben Jacobs via GiveMeSport, Premier League giants Liverpool are braced to see superstar attacker Mohamed Salah call it quits at Anfield in 2024.
The 31-year-old has been a sensational hit on Merseyside and has already written his name into club folklore. Salah has amassed 190 goals and 83 assists in 310 games for the Reds across all competitions and played a key role in their dominance under Jurgen Klopp.
He penned a new contract with the club in 2022 and continues to make a telling difference in the front three. The Egyptian formed a formidable front three with Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane and could be in line to join his former compatriots in the Saudi Pro League.
Asian giants Al-Ittihad had already raided Liverpool for Fabinho before turning their attention to Salah. They made a mammoth £215 million for Salah, with £175 million paid upfront. It represented a serious move for a player whose powers are on the wane.
At 31, Salah is not getting any younger and despite his impact, Liverpool will be right to seek a replacement sooner or later. The Egyptian’s contract expires in 2025 and given his age, the Reds could cash in on him in 2024 and land themselves a bucketful of gold.
The Saudi clubs have shown little reluctance to splash the cash and in Salah, they have the crown jewel. The 31-year-old is the finest Muslim footballer in the world and landing him will be a feather in the cap for any of the Middle Eastern sides.
Salah continues to deliver at a high level consistently and still has a lot left in him. But a mammoth offer in 2024 could swap both the Reds and maybe even the player. Under Klopp, Liverpool are rebuilding and are putting together another young, exciting side. Salah is one of the best and most experienced players in the lineup and brings stability to the frontline.
Giving him the 2023/24 season to help bed the new players before calling it goodbye makes sense for all parties. Salah was offered £2.45 million per week to leave Anfield plus revenue from a large percentage of shirt sales. He would also get a £55,000 win bonus and ambassadorial roles for three major Saudi companies.
Each firm would be willing to pay him £6m each, landing him a sensational payday in his twilight years. Al Ittihad were ready to throw the bank at Salah, but it seems inconceivable that they won’t return for him next summer. Doing so early in the summer will not just aid their cause but also give Liverpool ample time to scout a replacement.
Liverpool are not averse to selling players but will need to replace them effectively. Philippe Coutinho’s sale to Barcelona paved the way for Klopp to finish building his first great side. History could repeat itself should Salah also depart for what will surely be a handsome amount.
