Chelsea are ahead of Barcelona in the race to the signatures of 18-year-old Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko.
According to a report by Fichajes, Chelsea and Barcelona are both keen on having Youssoufa Moukoko in their ranks. The 18-year-old sensation is not happy with the limited game time he has had at Borussia Dortmund and could push for a move away from the club.
Moukoko joined Dortmund’s youth academy back in the summer of 2016. He has come up the ranks at the club and was promoted to their first team back in 2020. The teenage sensation has featured in a total of 77 matches for the German club and has contributed towards 21 goals.
Last season, the Germany Under-21 star featured in a total of 35 matches but he was on the pitch for less than 1,600 minutes. He found the back of the net on seven occasions and also bagged six assists.
Despite being on the pitch for a limited time, Moukoko managed to put in some impressive shifts. And, he was expected to have a more important role in the team this season. But, things haven’t gone according to plan. He has featured in five matches but has been on the pitch for just 61 minutes.
The 18-year-old is not happy with the limited game time he has had and he could part ways with the German club in search of regular first-team football. Despite having signed a new contract earlier this year, the German youth international could leave the club in the winter.
Chelsea are Barcelona are both interested in signing him. The Blues have been busy signing young players over the past few transfer windows. Their project revolves around young players with huge potential and it could be a great destination for the teenage sensation.
Chelsea haven’t been in the best of forms in front of goal of late. They are in need of a new number nine and the 18-year-old seems to be a perfect fit for the club. According to the report, the Blues are ready to put forward a bid worth €30 million for his services and they are ahead of Barcelona in the race to his signatures.
The Catalan giants have started building an attack for the future. They have already signed Vitor Roque who will join them next summer and are now looking to land Moukoko at the club. The duo could be a formidable duo in front of goal for the Spanish giants in the near future.
The 18-year-old is an exceptionally talented striker who is expected to reach great heights. And, he could be a great addition to Xavi’s team. But, at this point in time, they are behind Chelsea in the race for his services.
