Trent Alexander-Arnold is committed to Liverpool and will soon sign a new contract at Anfield amid interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid.
According to a report by 90min, Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in Trent Alexander-Arnold. But the 24-year-old, whose market value is €65 million, is committed to Liverpool. And he will soon sign a new contract with the Merseyside club, with the two parties finalising the terms of the deal.
Trent Alexander-Arnold has established himself as one of the best full-backs in the world since making his first-team debut for Liverpool as an 18-year-old in October 2016. The Englishman has been with the club since 2004 when he was six years old. And he rapidly rose through the ranks at the Merseyside outfit before becoming a first-team regular.
The 24-year-old has become Liverpool’s vice-captain this season following the departures of Jordan Henderson and James Milner. Meanwhile, he has an excellent tally of 16 goals and 73 assists in 277 appearances for Liverpool. But the Reds have been in a spot of bother over Alexander-Arnold’s contract situation, as he is approaching the final 18 months of his deal.
In addition, there is no shortage of interest in the English international, considering the state of the right-back market. Barcelona and Real Madrid have been keen on securing Alexander-Arnold’s services for a long time. Meanwhile, the player and Liverpool have been in talks over a new deal.
Barcelona finally bolstered the right-back unit this past summer by signing Joao Cancelo on the deadline day. But the Portuguese international has joined the Blaugrana on a loan deal without a purchase option. So, Barcelona might have to enter the market for a right-back. And Alexander-Arnold, who has been on their radar for a long time, is a viable target.
As for Real Madrid, Dani Carvajal is on the wrong side of 30 and approaching the final phase of his career. The Spaniard has also started performing at a lower level in the last few seasons. So, it behoves Real Madrid to invest in a right-back. And Alexander-Arnold has been a target for Los Blancos for a long time.
The English international has a market value of €65 million, as per transfermarkt. But Liverpool would have likely demanded a much higher sum to part ways with him. However, the 24-year-old will soon sign a new contract with Liverpool, with the two parties finalising terms over a contract.
