Barcelona, Chelsea, and Newcastle United are all interested in the services of 20-year-old Paris Saint-Germain winger Xavi Simons.
According to a report by Fichajes, Chelsea are interested in acquiring the services of Xavi Simons. The 20-year-old sensation has been on fire this season, and the Blues are considering pushing for him next summer. However, they are not the only club interested, with Newcastle United and Barcelona having him on their radar.
Simons came into the limelight while he was still a part of the Barcelona youth setup. The 20-year-old was expected to be the next big thing to come through the ranks at La Masia. But, things did not go according to plan, and he left the club for Paris Saint-Germain back in 2019.
While he did join the PSG, the Dutch international started off in their youth ranks, and it took him almost three years to make it into their first team. Despite getting promoted, he was never really given the amount of game time he needed to showcase his potential.
Just when it looked like another exceptional talent might not be able to fulfil his potential, he left PSG and joined PSV Eindhoven last summer. Simons managed to get his career back on track thanks to 34 goal contributions in 48 matches for the Dutch club.
PSG bought him back this summer and have loaned him out to RB Leipzig, where he already has seven goal contributions in five outings. While he is expected to return to his parent club in the summer, the 20-year-old’s future is uncertain, as he might not get regular first-team football at the French club.
Meanwhile, there are quite a few clubs ready to sign him. Chelsea are one of the clubs that have been keeping a close eye on the Dutch international. They have targeted young players with huge potential of late and are in need of more firepower in attack. As a result, Simons could be a perfect fit for the club.
However, the Blues are not alone even Newcastle would love to have him in their ranks. The Magpies have done some impressive business in the transfer market since their takeover and signing Simons could be another masterstroke by the club.
Even Barcelona are considering resigning their youth product, who is currently valued at €32 million. Simons is well-versed in the kind of football the Catalan giants play, and he could easily fit into Xavi’s system. As a result, they are considering bringing him back. While Barcelona, Newcastle United, and Chelsea are keen on having him in their ranks, it will be interesting to see how PSG handle the situation after having signed him back this summer.
