Arsenal are reportedly preparing a tempting offer worth around €30 million to snap up Borussia Dortmund prodigy Jamie Bynoe-Gittens in the upcoming January transfer window.
According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, Arsenal have expressed their interest in acquiring the 19-year-old rising star Jamie Bynoe-Gittens from Borussia Dortmund in the upcoming January transfer window and are contemplating making a €30 million offer to secure his services.
In the shadow of his more renowned English peers, Bynoe-Gittens, who arrived from Manchester City in 2020, has emerged as yet another special English talent to find a breakthrough and a platform to stardom at Borussia Dortmund, following in the footsteps of Jadon Sancho and Jude Bellingham.
The promising 19-year-old winger hails from Reading and garnered attention from Chelsea, but he opted for a transfer to Manchester City instead. Bynoe-Gittens became a part of the esteemed City Academy’s under-15 team and remarkably debuted for the England Under-16s shortly after turning 15 years old.
A free transfer to the Bundesliga with Dortmund would follow in 2020, and since then, this English wonderkid has produced flashes of what should be a very bright future.
Unfortunately, soon after joining the club, the youngster tore his ankle ligaments, ruling him out of action for a number of months and halting his development for a while, but he’s since returned and quickly established himself as a huge prospect for Dortmund.
He was handed his senior team breakthrough in 2021 against Wolfsburg in April 2022. Last season, the Englishman finally started getting a crack at first-team football, having played 527 minutes of Bundesliga action. During that time, he scored three goals and provided one assist. That is one goal contribution every 131 minutes or so, which is good going considering his tender age.
The 19-year-old is contracted to Dortmund until 2025, and there is no doubt the Bundesliga giants will want to keep hold of him for a little while longer, especially after the success stories of his compatriots, Bellingham and Sancho, who have gone on to mega-money transfers.
However, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are ready to put Dortmund’s resolve to the test in January. The Gunners have shown an interest in signing Bynoe-Gittens to bolster their offensive depth, with Arteta confident that the winger has all the tools required to star in the Premier League.
The north London outfit are set to launch a €30 million move to change the Bundesliga outfit’s stance about selling their prized asset in early 2024.
The youngster primarily operates off the left flank and likes to cut inside onto his stronger right foot to use his impressive ball-striking and unpredictable timing to cause uncertainty for goalkeepers.
However, he’s also more than capable of playing on the right wing too, and that versatility means he would be a fine rotational option for Bukayo Saka. It will be interesting to see if the Premier League club can manage to strike a deal in the upcoming window.
