According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Nuno Mendes is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. Juni Calafat is a keen admirer of the 21-year-old prospect. So, Los Blancos might raid Paris Saint-Germain for the young full-back. But they are wary of rubbing PSG the wrong way amid their pursuit of Kylian Mbappe.
Nuno Mendes spent most of his formative years in his homeland, passing through the fabled Sporting CP youth division. He began his youth career at FC Despertar before joining Sporting. But high-profile clubs came calling after he broke into the first-team squad at the Jose Alvalade Stadium.
Real Madrid had been one of the clubs keen on securing Mendes’s services. But Paris Saint-Germain eventually won the race to sign the Portuguese international. The 21-year-old initially moved to Parc des Princes on loan in August 2021 before completing a permanent transfer last year.
Mendes has been a regular for PSG since joining them two years ago. But a hamstring injury has left him sidelined for several weeks. He has turned out 69 times thus far for PSG while chipping in with two goals and nine assists. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid still keen on signing him.
Ferland Mendy faces an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu. While the Frenchman has been on the sidelines thus far this season, Fran Garcia’s performance should help the Spaniard usurp him. And recent reports have claimed that Real Madrid will demand around €30 million to part ways with him. So, Los Blancos will likely enter the market for a left-back next summer.
Players like Alphonso Davies and Ian Maatsen have thus emerged on Real Madrid’s radar. Mendes is also a viable target for the Spanish outfit. But the Merengues are eager not to rub PSG the wrong way, with relations between the two clubs already soured due to the Kylian Mbappe rumours.

Real Madrid will, of course, look to secure Mbappe’s services in a Bosman move next summer. But with Juni Calafat pushing for Mendes’s signature, it will be interesting to see if they will approach PSG over a move for the 21-year-old Portuguese prospect.
