Tottenham Hotspur looking to push for the services of 23-year-old Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher in the winter.

According to a report by Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on having Conor Gallagher in their ranks. Spurs tried to sign him during the recently concluded summer transfer window but they failed to land him at the club. However, they are willing to go again in the winter window.

Gallagher has come through the ranks at Chelsea. He made it to their first team last summer after an impressive loan spell at Crystal Palace. The 23-year-old ended up featuring his 45 matches in his debut season and was on the pitch for over 2,000 minutes.

While the England international played an important role during the 2022-23 season, his future was a talking point throughout the summer. Reports suggested that there were quite a few clubs interested in his services and even Chelsea were considering offloading him because of the number of midfielders they had signed.

The London club added Romeo Lavia, Moises Caicedo and Lesley Ugochukwu to their ranks in the summer. As a result, Gallagher was linked with a move away from the club. One of the clubs interested were Tottenham, they went hard for his services on deadline day. But, the Blues blocked the move.

The England international ended up staying at his childhood club and post that, a lot has changed as the Chelsea graduate has started in all five of their fixtures. He has become the mainstay of their team and Mauricio Pochettino has shown faith in him.

The player is quite happy with the amount of game time he has got and he is keen on continuing at the club. But with his contract running out in less than two years, the Blues are looking to cash in on him. His departure will help them massively in terms of Financial Fair Play as his sale will result in total profit since he is an academy graduate.

However, the player is looking to put in some impressive performances and win over Pochettino. He wants to earn a new deal at his childhood club. While Spurs retain their interest in his services and do want to add him to their ranks, the player prefers staying at Chelsea.

Tottenham are short in numbers in the centre of the park. They do not have the much-needed depth in midfield and they will surely try to lure him to the club. The 23-year-old has all the qualities needed to fit in Ange Postecoglou’s system and that is why the manager is keen on having him at his disposal.
