Chelsea remain interested in securing Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez
According to Fichajes, Premier League giants Chelsea remain interested in securing a deal for Inter Milan ace Lautaro Martinez in the transfer windows to come.
The Blues have gone big for several players over the course of the last three transfer windows. However, one area that lacks investment is that of the striker.
Nicolas Jackson was brought in this summer but he is far from ready to be trusted week in and week out. He might eventually come good, but it will take some fine-tuning. Armando Broja is also in the same boat and needs time to develop rather than being thrown in at the deep end.
While Christopher Nkunku is prolific, he is more of a roaming attacker rather than a pure number nine. Adding a prolific goalscorer beside him should significantly strengthen our attack and prove to be decisive, especially in hard-fought games.
One player who can do just that is Lautaro Martinez. The Argentine World Cup winner has built up a solid reputation for himself as one of the best players in Serie A of late. His current deal at the Giuseppe Meazza expires in 2026 and as of yet, Inter are yet to reach an agreement regarding a new deal.
Chelsea have shown the propensity to chuck money at a problem as they see fit. While Inter are not considering a sale at this moment in time, a bid of around €150 million might change their mind.
While paying it will see Chelsea break the British transfer record yet again, they will be getting themselves a player who guarantees goals in abundance. Whether it is an avenue they are willing to undertake next year remains to be seen.
Under Mauricio Pochettino, Chelsea have started to showcase a style of football that has seen them dominate possession. What the system now needs is impactful specialist players who can make a difference in key areas of the pitch.

Martinez can do just that and could prove to be an inspired acquisition. Pochettino has shown he has what it takes to develop a striker into something truly special during his time at Tottenham Hotspur. Martinez could benefit from the same treatment at Chelsea.
