Liverpool and Manchester United are both interested in acquiring the services of 19-year-old Portugal international Antonio Silva.

According to a report by 90min, Liverpool and Manchester United are both keen on having Antonio Silva in their ranks. The 19-year-old centre-back has been in sensation form over the past 18 months and there is a lot of interest in his services from across Europe.

Silva has come through the ranks at SL Benfica. The teenage sensation broke onto their first team last summer and has since gone from strength to strength. The Portuguese international is now an integral part of their first team.

The 19-year-old has featured in a total of 49 matches for the Portuguese club and has also contributed with five goals. He was sensational in his debut season in the Portuguese top flight and has carried his form into the 2023-24 season.

He has been involved in five matches so far and seems all set for another impressive season. His exceptional performances over the past 18 months have also helped him break into the Portuguese national team.

The teenager already has five caps for the national team and his performances during this international break were top-notch. While Silva has a contract that runs until the summer of 2027, he is likely to move to a bigger club in the near future.

There was a lot of interest in him this summer but nothing concrete really took place. As a result, he is still a part of the Portuguese club. But, there are a few clubs who could make a move for Silva’s services in the upcoming transfer window. Manchester United and Liverpool are the two clubs interested.

Both English clubs have been scouting him for a while now. They recently sent their representatives to watch him play for the Portuguese national team as they prepare for a potential transfer.

The Red Devils will look to bolster their defence next summer and Silva is one of the names on their radar. United will most likely look to offload Harry Maguire and replace him with the 19-year-old sensation. Meanwhile, Liverpool don’t have much depth in the heart of the defence.

They do have a few high-quality centre-backs but they don’t have enough quality in rotation. As a result, Jurgen Klopp wants to sign Silva who can help their cause in both the short as well as long term.
