Manchester United remain interested in the services of 27-year-old Barcelona centre-back Andreas Christensen.

According to a report by Fichajes, Manchester United are still keen on having Andreas Christensen in their ranks. The 27-year-old defender has been doing wonders in La Liga and Erik ten Hag is desperate to have him in his arsenal at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils wanted to bolster their defence this summer. But, they were first looking to offload their former skipper Harry Maguire. However, things didn’t go according to plan. Despite their interest in the Barcelona defender, nothing concrete took place.

While the transfer window is now over, United still remain interested in the 27-year-old and they will look to return for his services next summer. Christensen has enough experience of playing in the Premier League and his arrival will surely help the Red Devils’ cause.

The Danish international was the mainstay of Chelsea back in the day. After coming through the ranks at the club, he managed to establish himself as a first-team regular. And, even went on to win big with the club.

However, he left the Blues for Barcelona after his contract ran out last summer. The 27-year-old has showcased some exceptional performances since joining the Catalan giants. He has formed an exceptional defensive partnership with Ronald Araújo.

The duo were integral in their La Liga win last season and Christensen played a big role in making them the best defence in the league. His performances attracted a lot of attention from Manchester United and the Red Devils are now looking to land him at the club.

Erik ten Hag is a huge admirer of the Danish international. Christensen is the Dutch manager’s priority to reinforce his defence next summer. While there are other names on United’s radar, the 27-year-old is at the top of the list.

While Xavi would love to keep him in his ranks for as long as possible, Barcelona’s financial situation could force them to listen to offers. The Catalan giants are struggling financially and his sale could benefit them to a great extent. The former Chelsea defender arrived at the club as a free agent and his sale will result in clear profit. As a result, Manchester United are willing to try their luck next summer.
