New signings Lesley Ugochukwu and Deivid Washington will continue at Chelsea until the end of the year as the club blocks loan exit.
According to a report by Football Insider, Lesley Ugochukwu and Deivid Washington, who joined Chelsea in the recently concluded transfer window, will continue at the club despite talks of a loan move away from the club.
The duo was expected to leave the Blues and join a club where they could get proper first-team action. But, a loan move is no longer a possibility. The majority of transfer windows are now over, and the only option available is Turkey, where the window will end on September 15.
But, Chelsea won’t sanction a departure to the Super Lig, and the duo, who cost a combined fee of around £40 million, will be a part of the Blues’ first team until January. They might not get enough game time as the West London club already have around 30 senior players.
However, Mauricio Pochettino feels that staying at Stamford Bridge until the end of the year will help them build relationships with their new teammates and people at the club. It will also help understand the culture of the club.
Meanwhile, Pochettino could also give some game time in domestic cup competitions. The 19-year-old defensive midfielder Ugochukwu has already featured in three matches for the Blues this season. He played the full ninety minutes in their EFL Cup fixture against Wimbledon.
The teenage sensation arrived at the club in the summer for a fee of £23.2 million from Rennes. He signed a seven-year deal with the West London club and is expected to be a big part of their future. While Deivid Washington is yet to make his debut for his new club, the 18-year-old striker is a huge future prospect.
He has already showcased his class while playing for Santos in Brazil and with time, he is expected to go from strength to strength. The former Santos striker joined Chelsea in a deal worth £17.1million. Even Washington has penned down a seven-year-long deal with the club.
