Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are closing in on the signatures of Port Vale’s Under-15 academy midfielder Freddie Lawrie.

According to a report by Football Insider, Aston Villa have an agreement in place with EFL League One club Port Vale for the services of Freddie Lawrie. The teenage sensation is all set to join the Premier League club in a record-breaking deal.

Lawrie is all set to become the club record sale for a schoolboy. The teenager has been putting in some impressive performances at the underage level and he has been on the radar of quite a few top clubs from across England.

Numerous Premier League clubs have been scouting the youngster who plays for Port Vale’s under-15 team. He has gone from strength to strength over the past 18 months and multiple top teams want to land him at their club.

But, Villa seems to have won the race for his signatures. They have an agreement in place with the EFL League One club and if everything goes according to plan, Lawrie will soon be a Villa player.

The central midfielder will most likely join the Villa under-18 team that competes in the U18 Premier League and are currently third on the points table. It will be a great opportunity for the Vale under-15 player to come up the ranks at Villa and make it to their first team in the English top flight.

The Villa academy has produced quite a few exceptional players over the years. Currently, there are two academy graduates in Unai Emery’s first team, Jacob Ramsey and Tim Iroegbunam.

Over the years, the academy has produced the likes of Cameron Archer, Jack Grealish, Aaron Ramsey and Carney Chukwuemeka who currently play Premier League football elsewhere.

Villa have now agreed on a deal to sign the midfield prodigy and the Vale midfielder is all set to become the second player from Port Vale’s academy to earn a big-money move to the Premier League. The first was Michael Mills’ who joined Newcastle United last month.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa haven’t had the best of starts to the 2023-24 season. They have suffered heavy defeats at the hands of Liverpool and Newcastle. But, currently sit 10th on the points table thanks to wins over Everton and Burnley.
