Arsenal continue talks with Martin Odegaard to extend his deal at Arsenal, as Mikel Arteta considers the Norwegian key to the future.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal continue to hold talks with Martin Odegaard to find an agreement over a new long-term deal. The 24-year-old playmaker has been one of the key aspects of Mikel Arteta’s side, and like other important stars, the Gunners are keen to keep hold of the Norwegian.
Two summers ago, Arsenal fans were in a dilemma with the club’s decision to re-sign Martin Odegaard instead of James Maddison. The transfer only cost around £30 million but has already paid massive dividends, making the Norwegian a key component of the Mikel Arteta process.
The 24-year-old playmaker has already entered the final two years of his deal at Arsenal, as the club had planned a renewal a few months ago. Extending Odegaard’s deal remains a priority, but the Gunners had other important decisions, such as new deals for their young trio of Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and William Saliba.
The latter was the last to agree on a new long-term deal, and since then, there have been talk of Odegaard as the next in line. The 24-year-old playmaker seems relaxed about the situation, but the club are wary of rival interest, considering how solid the Norwegian has been in the last two seasons.

Odegaard will command a significant increase in his current wages and could ask for something similar to Bukayo Saka. His stature within the club seems elevated following his appointment as club captain last summer.
Arsenal have been ramping up their efforts to extend his deal, and now Fabrizio Romano reveals that talks have continued between all parties. The journalist insists the final decision will take a few weeks or even months. However, the Gunners are extremely optimistic about the 24-year-old playmaker remaining here for years.
Clubs like PSG have shown admiration in the past, but Arsenal are more than confident the Norwegian will stay in north London. Here, the 24-year-old playmaker is adored by the fans and has started the season brightly. His goal against Manchester United was his second of the season, scoring the winner against Crystal Palace from the penalty spot.
