Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool have offered a new contract to their 27-year-old Greece full-back Kostas Tsimikas.

According to a report by The Athletic, Liverpool want to reward their 27-year-old defender Kostas Tsimikas with a new contract. The Greece international has been doing a great job since arriving at the club and his manager Jurgen Klopp is keen on extending his stay at the club.

The German manager is quite happy with the 27-year-old’s output since signing him from Olympiacos for a fee of £11.75 million in the summer of 2020. Tsimikas was signed to provide competition for Andy Robertson. The 27-year-old has been pushing very hard for a spot in the starting XI and he has managed to rack up 62 appearances for the club. The left-back has even contributed towards 12 goals during his time at the club.

Last season he was involved in 28 matches and racked up over 1,200 minutes. Despite not being a first-choice full-back, the 27-year-old has managed to impress Klopp with some impressive shifts.

While he might have only made a substitute appearance this season, Tsimikas still remains an important part of the German manager’s plans moving ahead. He will surely get a decent amount of game time during the 2023-24 season.

The Greece international is quite happy at the Merseyside and he still has two years left on his deal. While there are no doubts over his future, Liverpool still want to strike a new deal with him.

The Merseyside club are looking to reward him for his performances. They want to extend his stay by another two years which will mean that his contract will run until the summer of 2027. The Reds are looking to secure his services for years to come and are ready to offer him improved wages in return.

Tsimikas is keen on continuing at the club and has agreed to the offer. He is ready to extend his stay by another two years and is all set to put pen to paper. His extension will be a big relief for the Merseyside club as they won’t have to worry about the left-back position for a few more years to come.
