Enzo Fernandez could consider Chelsea exit

Enzo Fernandez could consider parting ways with Chelsea months after joining them in a big-money move from Benfica.

According to a report by Fichajes, Enzo Fernandez could leave Chelsea in the summer of 2024. The 21-year-old could part ways with the Blues just 18 months after joining them in a record-breaking deal.

Fernandez is not happy with the current situation of the club. He was brought to the club with an ambitious project at hand. The Blues wanted to conquer Europe by signing some of the best young players in world football.

While they have signed some of the best young talents from across the world, their situation on the pitch hasn’t improved. They are still struggling, as a result, the 21-year-old could consider parting ways with the London club.

Fernandez came through the ranks at River Plate before joining Benfica in the summer of 2022. He was at the Portuguese club for around six months. He featured in a total of 29 matches and had 11 goal contributions.

His impressive performance resulted in him having an important role in the Argentine national team at the FIFA World Cup 2022. The 21-year-old was at the top of his game during the mega-event and he played a key role in helping the South American nation win the World Cup.

His performances for Benfica as well as his heroics in the FIFA World Cup resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe. Chelsea were keen on having him in their ranks and they ended up paying around €120 million for his services.

Since arriving at the club, the 21-year-old has showcased the quality that he possesses. But, the team’s overall performances have remained the same. The Blues finished in the bottom half of the Premier League table last season. And, the start of the 2023-24 season has been quite similar. They are currently 12 with just one win in four outings.

If their performances do not improve under the leadership of Argentine manager Mauricio Pochettino, the World Cup winner could consider leaving the Blues in the summer of 2024.
