Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.
Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Ittihad are reportedly keen on signing the 31-year-old but they are now losing confidence when it comes to completing the transfer. A report from the Telegraph claims that the Liverpool talisman might end up staying at the club for this season.
The Egyptian international has been a key player for Liverpool since joining the club and the Reds are unwilling to sanction his departure anytime soon. The attacker will be in the final year of his contract at the end of the season and they might be more open to selling him then.
For now, Liverpool will hope that the 31-year-old can help them return to the Champions League and win major trophies. The Reds had a disappointing season last year and they missed out on Champions League qualification.
Salah will be looking to help them return to the top four and compete for major trophies. In addition to that, he is one of the best players in the world and it does not make sense for him to leave a top European league at this stage of his career and pursue a new adventure in Saudi Arabia. The report from the Telegraph claims that Al-Ittihad were preparing a record deal to sign the Liverpool talisman and they were ready to launch a world record bid of £200 million for him.
Liverpool simply cannot afford to lose the player now as it would jeopardise their plans for the season and they will not be able to replace him either. The Premier League transfer window has now closed and they cannot sign players until January. Although they have players like Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo at their disposal, neither of the two players are prolific enough to replace the Egyptian international’s creative and goal-scoring output.
The player is not keen on forcing a move away from Liverpool and his desire to stay at Anfield will come as a huge boost for the club and their fans.
