Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad are keen on acquiring the services of 27-year-old West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd.
According to a report by Football Insider, Karim Benzema’s Al-Ittihad are keen on having Nayef Aguerd in their ranks before the end of the Saudi Pro League’s transfer window. The Middle East club are looking to bolster their defence and they have their eyes set on the 27-year-old centre-back.
Al-Ittihad have done some exceptional transfer business in the ongoing transfer window. They started off by acquiring the services of Real Madrid superstar Karim Benzema and followed it up by signing N’Golo Kante from Chelsea.
The Saudi club have made a few more world-class signings. They are not finished yet, the Saudi Pro League champions are still keen on adding a few more superstars. They have been linked with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah of late,
Nuno Espirito Santo’s men even submitted a sensational offer worth £150 million last week. But, Liverpool turned it down and with the English transfer window now over, they are unlikely to let him leave.
Meanwhile, Al-Ittihad have started making moves to sign Nayef Aguerd from West Ham United. The 27-year-old has been in sensational form over the past 12 months and the Saudi club are pushing hard to sign him while he is still in his prime. They are ready to prise him away from England.
Aguerd joined West Ham last summer from Rennes in a deal worth £30 million. The Moroccan defender has gone from strength to strength since arriving in England. He played a major role in helping the Hammers win the UEFA Conference League. And, the 27-year-old also helped Morocco become the first African nation to reach the semi-finals of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
The former Rennes centre-back will be a great addition to Nuno Espirito Santo’s ranks. And, he will surely help their cause. While there is nothing concrete yet, Al-Ittihad are expected to make a late move for the Moroccan international. They will try to strike a deal before the end of their transfer window (7 September).
