Mohamed Salah has been linked with a move away from Liverpool in recent weeks but reportedly wants to stay at Anfield.

Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad have been keen on signing Mohamed Salah. But it seems highly unlikely that Liverpool will sanction his departure. A report from Daily Mirror claims that the 31-year-old has now informed his teammate Dominik Szoboszlai that he plans to stay at Anfield despite links with the Saudi Arabian club.

“You know it is football, everyone is talking. We are really happy that he has stayed. We are of course speaking between each other but he [Salah] wants to stay, he wants to be here and be with us, and he will stay. We are really happy – we need people in the team like him,” Dominik Szoboszlai said.

The 31-year-old has been a key player for Liverpool since joining them from AS Roma, and he has established himself as one of the best players in the world. His departure would be a massive blow for Liverpool, and the latest developments will come as a major boost for the club and their fans.

The fact that Salah wants to stay in the Premier League with Liverpool will come as a huge positive. And the Reds will be hoping that he can help them win more trophies in the coming season. Recent reports had claimed that he had been given time off to sort out his future.

Liverpool had a disappointing 2022/23 season, and they missed out on UEFA Champions League qualification. They will be desperate to get back into the top four and compete for the major trophies once again. The Merseyside club cannot hope to do so without the contributions of their best attacker.

The Egyptian international is undoubtedly one of the best players in the world, and he is certainly the best attacker at Liverpool. Apart from his ability to score goals consistently, Salah remains an elite creator who has helped create numerous opportunities for his teammates.

That said, the 31-year-old is now in the final year of his contract with Liverpool, and it will be interesting to see if Al-Ittihad decide to come back for him at the end of the season. With just one year left on his contract next summer, Liverpool will be more open to accepting offers for him.

The Reds will not want to lose the player on a free transfer upon the expiry of his contract. For now, the 31-year-old remains an indispensable asset for Liverpool, and they will hope that he can help them return to the Champions League and win trophies this season.
