Liverpool confirmed midfielder Ryan Gravenberch’s signing after agreeing on a deal with Bayern Munich earlier today.

Liverpool have confirmed the capture of Ryan Gravenberch from Bayern Munich on a permanent transfer. The 21-year-old midfielder will join after the Reds paid a €40 million fee with an additional €5 million in add-ons.

If there were any doubts about Liverpool’s signing of Ryan Gravenberch, the club have now confirmed the conclusion of the transfer. The early closure of the German market created anxiety among fans about the potential arrival. But those fears are now dead following the 21-year-old midfielder donning the red shirt.

Gravenberch had been on Jurgen Klopp’s radar for a long time, as the German manager felt the Dutchman would fit his system perfectly. The whole window for Liverpool proved chaotic following the Saudi involvement in taking some of their notable players early on.

There were tensions earlier today when Al-Ittihad lodged a £150 million bid for Mohamed Salah, which Liverpool swiftly rejected. The finalisation of a move for Gravenberch had been on the cards after the club made a conclusive decision in the last few days.

Negotiations with Bayern Munich continued, and Liverpool ensured they reached a swift agreement. The Reds also evaded the idea of waiting until the Germans found a potential replacement, which ultimately turned out pretty badly for the Bavarians.

Liverpool will pay €40 million in fixed fees plus €5 million in add-ons. Gravenberch has signed a five-year deal without an option to extend it further. Overall, it is a good deal for Liverpool as the price point seems within their usual range. The 21-year-old midfielder will prove valuable in the long term.

Bayern faced many disappointments on the last day of the transfer window. The early closure of the German window caused further complications. They agreed on a deal with Fulham for Joao Palhinha and the midfielder completing his medicals. Ultimately, the move fell through as Fulham waited to find a replacement before they could approve it.

Bayern also lost out on Southampton’s Armel Bella-Koptchap and even Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah. The latter will likely stay at Stamford Bridge. Those tensions with the Palhinha deal got some fans thinking the Gravernberch deal was in danger of falling through.

Liverpool have the Dutchman in their grasp. Fans can look forward to the 21-year-old midfielder making his debut in the Red shirt of Merseyside.
