Manchester United and Fiorentina have sealed the agreement over a loan deal for 27-year-old Moroccan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
According to reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Sofyan Amrabat will complete a deadline-day move to Manchester United. The Red Devils have an agreement with Fiorentina over a loan deal for the 27-year-old. Manchester United will pay a loan fee of €10 million, with the purchase option being worth €20 million in base fee and €5 million in add-ons.
Sofyan Amrabat has been pining for Manchester United throughout the summer transfer window. The Moroccan international spent his formative years in the Netherlands but has risen to prominence during his ongoing stint with Fiorentina. He joined La Viola in August 2020 and has come leaps and bounds in the last three seasons.
The 27-year-old particularly saw his stock skyrocketing after a sensational 2022 FIFA World Cup campaign. Meanwhile, Amrabat has turned out over 100 times for Fiorentina, chipping in with one goal and one assist. But his time at the Serie A club is ending ahead of tonight’s summer transfer deadline.
Amrabat’s exploits at the World Cup did not go unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, and Liverpool were among the teams that attempted to secure his services. But the player has had his heart set on joining Manchester United since the Red Devils emerged as a suitor.

Fulham also came into the race to sign Amrabat this week. But the 27-year-old snubbed the West London club to wait for Manchester United’s offer. The player’s desired move is now on the cards, with Manchester United and Fiorentina sealing an agreement over a season-long loan deal.
Manchester United will shell out a loan fee of €10 million while reserving the option to sign him in a permanent deal next summer. Triggering the clause will enable the Red Devils to sign the Moroccan international for €20 million, with €5 million being bonuses.
So, Amrabat is finally getting his dream move to Manchester United, with medical and the official announcement coming up. It will be interesting to see if he can reproduce performances similar to the World Cup after completing the transfer to Old Trafford.
